The Diaries of Rev. John McCarty, 1853-1868, and Rev. Albert S. Nicholson, 1868-1886, of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Vancouver, Washington. Reverend John McCarty started his diary in 1853 when he arrived at Fort Vancouver as Post Chaplain in the U. S. Army. In 1860 he founded the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Vancouver and served as its rector until 1868 when he retired. Reverend Albert S. Nicholson followed Rev. McCarty as Rector of. St. Luke’s. He continued this parish diary until 1886 when he transferred to Tacoma.
