About the Clark County Genealogical Society

CCGS Library

CCGS is celebrating over 50 years of service in Clark County, Washington. Since 1972, we have dedicated ourselves to helping people with genealogical and family research and acting as stewards of Clark County history.

Our Mission

  • Educate and foster public interest in genealogy.
  • Maintain a genealogical library.
  • Collect, preserve, research, and publish genealogical information.

Our Programs

We offer genealogy classes (free for members) and seminars in addition to a monthly general meeting with a guest speaker. There are free focus groups on various genealogical topics. We publish a monthly newsletter with news and special topics for members and a weekly email about upcoming events for anyone interested in CCGS. Members also enjoy first access to the annual Trail Breakers journal with Pacific Northwest history and pioneer stories.

Our Resources

CCGS maintains a 10,000+ item library that is open to the public. Holdings include:

  • Genealogy books on locations in the Pacific Northwest, the United States, and across the globe
  • Published family history books
  • Vertical files (collected loose research, records, and other materials by surname)
  • Maps
    Genealogical periodicals and magazines
  • Microfilm including newspaper and census records

There is complimentary library computer access to the Ancestry Library Edition, FamilySearch, American Ancestors, and archives of The Columbian and Camas-Washougal Post-Record.

We also offer vital records from local newspapers, books about Clark County pioneers, local vital and burial records, and much more.

Connect to the Clark County Research Library on YouTube. This is a great resource about CCGS and for archived classes and how-to videos.

Our volunteer librarians will provide tips and assistance with your genealogical research and locating CCGS resources.

As a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, we provide access to FamilySearch’s digital genealogical collections that are otherwise accessible only through a FamilySearch center.
