CCGS Book Indexing Project

We need volunteers to index books in our library. This will be done for all books that do not have an alphabetical index of all names used in the book. At the present time we will include only books, not microfilm. Indexing can be, and is preferred to be, done in the library. The indexing program is installed in the computers. Instructions will be placed by each terminal.

It can also be done at home. We have the program for installation on home computers that use Windows 98, ME, and XP. FoxPro, the program used for the indexing database, does not have a version for Mac, so Macintosh users will not be able to install this program on their computers. Sorry!

If books are indexed at home, we would like them to be done as quickly as possible so as not to have books missing from the library for long periods of time. Indexing instructions and procedures can be found in the green spine notebook marked "Indexing" on the bookshelf behind the librarian's desk.
